This is the first of a series from Bobby to his girlfriend Pat, written in July of 1951. This July 12 letter to “My darling Pat” relates that Bobby has been playing volleyball, buying jazz records, listening to radio programs, and getting a good tan; he also notes, “A few nights ago, we tried to get drunk but couldn’t.” He signs off, “I’ll always love you, Bob.” The letter is written in black ink and comes with its original envelope, postmarked to Santa Cruz, California, and mailed via two three-cent stamps.
